This celebrity diet is one of the most well-known low-carb programs on the market. Created by Dr. Robert Atkins, it’s the most recognized program encouraging dieters to eat more protein, and less carbs and sugars. For example, an Atkins-friendly meal might even include a bacon double-cheeseburger – without the bun, of course.

Atkins involves restricting carbohydrates in order to change the body’s metabolism from burning glucose to burning stored body fat. Followers are encouraged to eat foods that are whole and unprocessed with a low glycemic load. The diet instructs that 11% of calories should come from fat.
